About
WHO WE ARE
Our History
Phoenix Processor Limited Partnership (PPLP) was founded in 1988 by a group of fishermen who invested in their future by building a company that still serves as their market today. Over the past nearly four decades, PPLP has been a consistent and reliable producer of high-quality seafood products including surimi paste and fillet block from both Wild Alaska pollock and Pacific whiting. PPLP is driven by its commitment to quality, continuous improvement, safety, and efficiency, and takes great pride in its role as a producer of healthy and sustainable seafood distributed across the globe, and as a supporter of healthy coastal communities in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
Our Operations
PPLP operates the mothership M/V Excellence – a floating factory capable of processing over 600 metric tons of round fish per day. The Excellence is registered with Det Norske Veritas and complies with all applicable regulations administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, the FDA, the U.S. department of Commerce Seafood Inspection Program, OSHA, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, the EPA, and numerous additional State and Federal agencies. The ship holds approximately 1,600 metric tons of frozen product and offloads approximately once every 12-14 days.
Our Values
PPLP is dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace while upholding the highest standards of environmental stewardship. PPLP’s commitment to ethical hiring and employment practices and its desire to be a valued employer is demonstrated through its certification under the Fairness, Integrity, Safety, and Health (F.I.S.H.) standard.
This certification ensures our customers that our products are made by a team that works in safe, wholesome conditions, is fairly compensated, and is employed using transparent and ethical hiring practices. In additional to regulatory requirements, PPLP maintains a robust safety and environmental management system ensuring a focus on safety and a commitment to continuous improvement. PPLP supports sustainable, science-based management of the Wild Alaska pollock stocks and all other marine resources.
Our Customers
PPLP is proud to participate in the Wild Alaska pollock and Pacific whiting fisheries – two of the most sustainable in the world – and to have as partners the producers of some of the best seafood in the world. Our products serve as raw material for breaded portions (including McDonald’s Fillet-o-Fish patties!), surimi seafood (crab sticks), and premium surimi kamaboko products for the Japanese market. Being a preferred supplier to our global partners is a top priority of everyone on the team!
